Last night, I headed over to the Wynnsong theater in Mounds View to see the movie "Her". It is nominated for best picture at the upcoming Academy Awards, and it looked interesting to me, so I thought I would give it a try...

It is a crazy concept, to be sure ("man falls in love with smartphone operating system"), but it really makes you think about relationships and the entire concept of humanity.
Despite also starring Amy Adams, it is the polar opposite it its Academy Award contemporary "American Hustle", which is all about the "pomp and circumstance", so to speak.
"Her", however, is more of a "thinking person's" type of movie. There isn't a lot of action, so if you are looking for explosions or things of that nature, you will be severely disappointed. If you like the feeling of being challenged or having concepts rattle around in your brain long after the movie is over, than "Her" might just be the movie for you.
It isn't playing at every theater and sometimes the showtimes are a bit odd, but if you are interested and can find a showing that fits your schedule, it is worth it.
